Dedications & updates

People have asked me when will Chandra’s Quest be complete. Well, my mom is one of my biggest fans and she requested that I add more pages to book one. I have. I also changed the book cover. Image done by poser 10. I re-uploaded it on Kindle and plan on re uploading it to CreateSpace for those who prefer paperback. Book 2: Immortality will end the Chandra’s Quest book series. I gave myself a time limit. I have until I am 58 to complete all the books I want to write. That’s something my readers should know.

I do want to say that the kindle version is formatted differently than the paperback version. I suppose that’s the way it is.

In the Company of Elves is coming along fine.  This isn't the actual book cover. I'm not sure what book cover I'll use yet. 

There’s another book I plan on writing, one that I discarded  years ago but decided to finish writing it anyways. You’ll find all the book pages on my official website. The picture below is a hint. 

Dedications:

Since my mom loved Chandra’s Quest so much, I dedicated the book series to her and my family. So, at the end of the book, I posted dedications.

Using Alternate Realities in Your Books

    It’s been a while since I’ve written in my blog but I’m back and I would like to share what I’ve been doing to my books.

I am using the alternate reality theory for two of my books. Chandra’s Quest takes place in an alternate Earth and so does In the Company of Elves. I love adding alternate reality scenarios in my books because anything is possible.

On the Earth that Chandra is from, California is a country called The Republic of California, which includes Baja. California has provinces instead of states. 
(The provinces will be mentioned in Book 3, when she regains her memory and shares the information with her friend Keeja.)

Flag

The difference in that reality is that the flag is red and white with a red star at the top left hand corner, same as the flag on the bottom, except instead of a bear, it has the eagle as pictured above. 

(For those who are offended by this, remember this is fiction and is part of the Chandra's Quest trilogy. There is always a background to each character, where they come from and who they are.)

 In book three of Chandra's Quest, Chandra's memories return and she will reveal in more detail about her world. 

Alternate Reality Fiction

Of course, this is all just fiction and I'm sure many out there will oppose to California being it's own country, mostly the people who see nothing but politics, right? 
So with that said, I will ignore all trolling about this subject in the future.

Now let’s look at the book, In the Company of Elves. On Melissa’s Earth, there is a Jewish President, there are 52 states, Includes Baja as state and small portion of northern Mexico, bordering southern Texas. 9/11 never happened. Portals are being created by CERN which is why Melissa is able to cross worlds.

What I outlined are the portion of lands that belong to America.

All of the above will be briefly mentioned in my books, with the exception that I did not mention it, In the Company of Elves. Sorry about that but at least I gave you an idea about the worlds the characters come from.

 It’s quite fun to imagine a “what if” scenario isn’t it. Using alternate reality scenarios in your books is fun. Take the reader to a world that may seem impossible to believe. Walk them through the mirror. They will be intrigued by the concept.

2015 in Retrospect

Wow, can’t believe it’s already December and the year is almost over!

What I accomplished:
I have a 5-star rating on my book Chandra’s Quest book 1, the revised version. Not to be confused with the original unabridged version of Chandra’s Quest book 1, the one I published 13 years ago. 

Should I toot my horn?

Yes! I’m proud that my book has a 5 star. But, I still have to finish the book series. It took me 8 years to revise the first book. Hopefully it won’t take me another eight years to complete the series.

NOTE: I am almost done with the editing of book 2. I like to go over my books several times before I publish them. I don’t want to make the same mistakes from the past because there will be no more revising of ‘that’ book series. I will move on to new book projects, later.

That is true. I can only look forward to finishing up the book series, and moving on. 

**I am truly happy that my book has a 5 star however, this year has been...unlucky when it comes to things like cars and appliances.
Cars needed to be fixed and some appliances have broken down, leaving us with less money in our pockets for Christmas! But giving is more important and despite of everything that has gone wrong financially speaking in 2015, I'm grateful for the little things that do come my way!

Hello Everyone

Yes, I know I haven’t been writing anything on this blog lately, I have been busy with other matters but I am still working on Book 2, which by December it will be completed. Chandra’s Quest has been, by far the most tedious book series to complete. it's taken me almost 12 years! LOL
I’ve made changes and when I edit, I make sure I edit several times before publishing. I promise that in a week or two I will have another excerpt to post. New Video!!

I finally finished my book trailer and it is now available on YouTube! It took me a while to complete because of the editing I had to do to it and I was ill for a few weeks as well but I did it!!

I am still working on the book trailer for Chandra’s Quest, it’s not an easy thing to do but I am confident that it will work out and give people a more visual view of what the book/books are about. Chandra’s Quest is rated a 4 star on Amazon. It hasn’t been rated on Kindle even though people have downloaded it. The book is sci-fi/fantasy, written for 16 and over. That’s all I have for now. In a few weeks I will post excerpts/spoilers, from book 2. TY for visiting.

Seems Like Yesterday

I was reminiscing about when I first started writing my first book, Chandra's Quest. It was eighteen years ago and as I was going over some notes that I wrote back in the early 1990s I couldn't decide what I should cal my book. The notes were jumbled, and frankly I wasn't sure how to get started on writing my book, but while I was watching one of my favorite sci-fi shows, (Earth Final Conflict circa 1997) it hit me---the title for my book! Shandara's Journey. On that very year I gave birth to my youngest son and to my book.  However, the following year  I decided to change the title to, Chandra's Quest.

Something shorter and catchier, you know.  I did my writing when my children went to bed at night. I wrote for 45 minutes, four times out of the week. I used a type writer because we did not have a computer at the time; we didn’t get one until 2000. I did my best with what I had. 

The first book out of the series was completed in 2001, I published it in 2002 with Instantpublishers.com. Out of the twenty five books I ordered from them, I sold half on Amazon.

 As I look back now, I think of how I could have done things a bit differently; maybe I should have waited two more years on publishing my first book. Chandra’s Quest Book 1 was written as a first person narrative. The revised version, is not. 

Yes, the book has developed some fans and some Haters. Never-the-less, I am grateful that I got the chance in this lifetime to write my book. I am very proud of what I’ve written and wish all self-published authors out there luck with their books too. 

**Recently, someone ordered a copy of my book through Amazon and not through a third party seller. I am happy but the royalties could be better.

However, it’s okay. As long as people enjoy my books, that’s all that matters.
